As a precautionary response to COVID-19, Ohio EPA is currently operating with most staff working remotely. If you are working with our staff on a current project and you know the name of the employee you are working with, email them at firstname.lastname@epa.ohio.gov or call them directly. The Agency website has contact information for every district, division, and office. In order to reach us, please contact Ohio EPA’s main phone line at (614) 644-3020 or the main line for the division or office you are trying to reach.

After March 23, our district offices and Central Office will be temporarily closed and will have increasingly limited ability to receive deliveries, plans, etc. All entities are encouraged to submit plans, permit applications, etc., electronically where there are existing avenues to do so, such as the eBusiness Center (eBiz). Please refer to the list of available services on the main eBiz webpage. We encourage you to make use of all that apply, even if you have not used eBiz in the past. Plans under 25 MB can be emailed. For large plans over 25 MB, entities should work with the reviewer/division to upload via LiquidFiles. Directions for submitting docs via LiquidFiles is available on YouTube. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your understanding.

To report a spill or environmental emergency, contact the spill hotline (800) 282-9378 or (614) 224-0946

The Ohio Water Resources Committee (OWRC) was designed as a forum for policy development, collaboration and coordination among state agencies, and strategic direction with respect to state water resource programs.

Ohio's Workgroup for Water Resource Monitoring (WWRM) was created in 2004 to promote the effective collection, interpretation and dissemination of water resource and other environmental data necessary to provide for comprehensive water resource management.

Ohio's Water Quality Monitoring Steering Committee (WQMSC) was created in 2012 to promote and implement a plan to enhance the effectiveness and use of surface and ground water quality data collected in Ohio.

Ohio's Workgroup for Water Resource Monitoring was created in 2004, to promote the effective collection, interpretation and dissemination of water resource and other environmental data necessary to provide for comprehensive water resource management. This workgroup began organizing annual meetings of many of the statewide and regional water resource data collectors in Ohio, to share information and improve coordination and collaboration. In recent years, USGS has taken the lead in organizing the annual meeting, which is typically held in March.

Do you routinely monitor ground water or surface water in Ohio?  If so, we would appreciate you taking the time to fill out our survey form and submitting it to Richard Bartz, USGS at rsbartz@usgs.gov or to Cathy Alexander, Ohio EPA at cathy.alexander@epa.ohio.gov.

The Water Quality Monitoring Steering Committee (WQMSC) is a subset of the larger Workgroup for Water Resource Monitoring intended to rejuvenate efforts the larger group started, first by creating a more specific, action oriented plan. The WQMSC was created in 2012 and is composed of ground water and surface water technical or management staff from five state agencies (Agriculture, Health, Transportation, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection) and USGS. Ohio EPA's Division of Surface Water is the designated lead for the committee.

The first priorities established by the committee are to develop a simple listing of prevalent water quality data collectors and their monitoring activities, and to better share and disseminate surface water quality data collected by state agencies.
