Through the Voluntary Action Program (VAP), businesses and property owners have a way to investigate possible environmental contamination due to hazardous substances, clean up the property, and receive a covenant not to sue (CNS) from the State of Ohio promising that no more cleanup is needed. VAP maximizes resources and expertise in the private sector by using qualified, experienced professionals such as engineers and scientists certified by Ohio EPA as certified professionals (CP).

NOTE: Changes to Ohio Administrative Code 3745-300-05, effective April 19, 2006, will require any individual who wishes to apply for certification as a Certified Professional to take Ohio EPA's initial/refresher training as a prerequisite prior to submitting the initial application.
