State Implementation Plan (SIP) - Regional Haze
To reduce haze, and to meet requirements of the Clean Air Act, U.S. EPA in April 1999 issued a regional haze rule aimed at protecting visibility in 156 federal areas. The rule seeks to reduce the visibility impairment caused by many sources over a wide area. Additional information about the regional haze rule can be found on U.S. EPA's website.

BART Sources
U.S. EPA's regional haze rule requires states to evaluate certain sources for the necessity of best available retrofit technology (BART). The above SIP document identifies Ohio's analysis of sources located within the state. Ohio found one facility requiring BART; P.H. Glatfelter.
