Helping communities and businesses access compliance, technical and financial assistance for their environmental needs.

Each year the Small Business Environmental Assistance Program/Small Business Ombudsman (SBEAP/SBO) National Steering Committee (NSC) recognizes outstanding environmental leadership among small businesses and small business assistance providers. Because of COVID, 2020 awards were mailed to awardees and photos of awardees with new releases continue being added to their website. These awards recognize small businesses, SBEAP/SBO programs and individuals, trade associations and other business assistance providers who have made significant contributions to protecting the environment. The awards program is sponsored by the SBEAP/SBO NSC in partnership with U.S. EPA Asbestos and Small Business Office.

Glorianna Corman, with KPA Consulting, Grove City, Ohio, was selected for the 2020 Business Assistance Providers Environmental Leadership Award. This award category showcases the accomplishments of a business assistance provider (for example, a trade association, Chamber of Commerce, other partner organization, etc.) that has worked with a local/state/territory/national SBO/SBEAP in the areas of compliance assistance, pollution prevention, sustainability, and information transfer. Ms. Corman has invited and collaborated with Ohio’s Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention (OCAPP) to present to professional organizations, including getting environmental topics on the agenda at the annual Ohio Safety Congress, has reviewed and helped disseminate several OCAPP publications, and has promoted OCAPP’s services to thousands of Ohio’s small businesses over the past decade.

Corman was appointed to the Ohio Small Business Compliance Advisory Panel (CAP) by Governor Mike DeWine. The Ohio CAP, meeting quarterly, provides input from a small business perspective on new compliance assistance initiatives, environmental regulations and Agency actions. Ohio’s CAP also participates in the national coalition of similar panels from other states who communicate small business needs to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Small Business Ombudsman.

Ohio EPA extends their congratulations to Ms. Corman and appreciates her service on the Ohio CAP.
