Do environmental terms sometimes sound like a foreign language to you? If so, you’re not alone. Many businesses and communities have difficulty keeping up with the latest environmental lingo. This feature will cover some common environmental terms you may encounter.
Congress passed the Pollution Prevention (P2) Act in 1990. It was designed – in large part - to help U.S. businesses transform the way they think about manufacturing products and processes, and how to reduce costs by minimizing waste.
Ohio EPA recognized YSI, Inc., in Yellow Springs in September 2018 with a Platinum Level award for its sustainability initiatives, conservation and efficiency programs, and water quality education efforts. YSI manufactures sampling and monitoring instruments for environmental and in-process monitoring, including equipment widely used to track water quality conditions and trends.
The Ohio Materials Marketplace has migrated to a new dynamic platform. The new marketplace features an improved communication tool and is mobile-friendly to ease the creation of new material posts and speed material searches.
On April 17, 2019, Ohio EPA held its second Sustainability Conference in Columbus. Two hundred business and community representatives attended. The event provided opportunities to learn ways to become a part of the sustainability movement.
Ohio Clean Marinas Program is a partnership between the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Sea Grant College Program, Ohio EPA and several other agencies. They encourage marinas and boaters to use simple, innovative solutions to help keep Ohio’s coastal and inland waterway resources clean.
Ohio EPA recognized American Municipal Power, Inc., (AMP) in Columbus in October with a Platinum Level award for its sustainability initiatives, diverse array of renewable and advanced power assets and robust energy efficiency program.
Ohio EPA Director Craig W. Butler presented 12 Encouraging Environmental Excellence (E3) awards at the Agency’s Compliance Assistance Conference on Oct. 31, 2018 in Columbus.
Ohio EPA recently recognized Ohio University (OU) in Athens with our highest environmental stewardship award for the University’s focus on sustainability and being a national leader in campus environmental stewardship.
