FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 21, 2022
Out of 151 photographs submitted by amateur photographers, 10 were recognized as judges’ favorites in the annual Life on Lake Erie photo contest. Each of the winning photographers were recognized during the Ohio Lake Erie Commission’s (OLEC) Sept. 21 meeting. This year’s photos feature the variety of places and life that reflect Ohio’s Lake Erie. The winning photos can be found at the OLEC website, www.lakeerie.ohio.gov.
“Congratulations to the 2022 Life on Lake Erie photo contest winners,” said Governor Mike DeWine. “The Life on Lake Erie photo contest has brought out the skills of amateur photographers who captured the many reasons why residents and visitors come to enjoy Ohio’s great lake.”
OLEC sponsors the contest annually to encourage amateur photographers to share their pictures capturing the life on Lake Erie. This is the 30th year for the photo contest and aligns with the Ohio Lake Erie Commission’s 30th anniversary. This year, prizes providing Lake Erie experiences were presented to the top award winners provided by OLEC partners.
The photo contest aims to convey the “Life on Lake Erie” message of day-to-day lives of the people, plants, and animals that live and thrive in the Lake Erie watershed. Winning photos can be viewed at the Riffe Gallery Lobby in Columbus from Nov. 15, 2022, through Jan. 6, 2023. Photos also may be featured at other Lake Erie partner venues, in various state publications, promotional materials, and through OLEC and other state agency social media outlets.
OLEC appreciates the photo submissions from the many individuals who shared their enjoyment of Lake Erie. OLEC is pleased to honor the 2022 photo winners.
