After March 23, our district offices and Central Office will be temporarily closed and will have increasingly limited ability to receive deliveries, plans, etc. All entities are encouraged to submit plans, permit applications, etc., electronically where there are existing avenues to do so, such as the eBusiness Center (eBiz). Please refer to the list of available services on the main eBiz webpage. We encourage you to make use of all that apply, even if you have not used eBiz in the past. Plans under 25 MB can be emailed. For large plans over 25 MB, entities should work with the reviewer/division to upload via LiquidFiles. Directions for submitting docs via LiquidFiles is available on YouTube. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your understanding. If you wish to send hard copies of documents to any of Ohio EPA’s district offices, the best method to ensure we receive these documents is to send them via U.S. Mail. Since all offices are closed, deliveries outside of U.S. Mail (FedEx, UPS) will likely be returned because the offices are closed and deliveries cannot be made.

Public Hearing Set for Water Quality Impacts From Darbydale Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion

Meeting to be Held Monday, April 18, 2016

Ohio EPA will present information and receive testimony at a public hearing for a proposed wastewater treatment plant expansion that discharges to a tributary of Big Darby Creek located at 6262 London-Groveport Road, Grove City. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016, at Pleasant View Middle School, 7255 Knopp Road, Grove City.

If the permit modification is approved, the proposed expansion would allow the county-owned facility to increase its treated discharge by 150,000 gallons per day to a total of 450,000 gallons per day. The expansion would allow Franklin County to retire older wastewater treatment plants and would not accommodate new development.

The proposed project may result in a change from the current water quality conditions but cannot violate Ohio’s water quality standards that protect human health and the environment. Ohio EPA will consider the technical, economic, social and environmental aspects of the project before deciding to issue or deny a permit.

Ohio EPA values comments from the public and will accept written comments about this permit until April 25, 2016. Comments should be submitted to epa.dswcomments@epa.ohio.gov or EPA-DSW, Attention Permits Processing unit, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, Ohio 43215-1049.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was created in 1972 to consolidate efforts to protect and improve air quality, water quality and waste management in Ohio. Since then, air pollutants dropped by as much as 90 percent; large rivers meeting standards improved from 21 percent to 89 percent; and hundreds of polluting, open dumps were replaced with engineered landfills and an increased emphasis on waste reduction and recycling.
