Ohio EPA to Accept Comments Regarding Caesar Creek Marina Project

Public Hearing Scheduled for Nov. 19, 2013

The public may comment on potential water quality impacts associated with proposed construction of a new 419-slip recreational marina at Caesar Creek Lake. A public meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2013, in the Caesar Creek State Park Day Lodge, 8570 E. State Route 73, Waynesville, Ohio. The meeting will begin with an information session; the hearing will immediately follow.

If approved, the project would impact 0.6 acres of category fair- to good-quality wetlands, 0.04 acres of poor-quality wetlands, 546 linear feet of intermittent streams and 1.2 acres of Caesar Creek Lake.

Written comments are weighted the same as those received at the hearing. Written comments must be received by the close of business on Nov. 26, 2013. Written comments may be presented in person at the hearing or mailed to Ohio EPA-DSW, Attention: Permits Processing Unit, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, Ohio 43216-1049.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was created in 1972 to consolidate efforts to protect and improve air quality, water quality and waste management in Ohio. Since then, air pollutants dropped by as much as 90 percent; large rivers meeting standards improved from 21 percent to 89 percent; and hundreds of polluting, open dumps were replaced with engineered landfills and an increased emphasis on waste reduction and recycling.
