After March 23, our district offices and Central Office will be temporarily closed and will have increasingly limited ability to receive deliveries, plans, etc. All entities are encouraged to submit plans, permit applications, etc., electronically where there are existing avenues to do so, such as the eBusiness Center (eBiz). Please refer to the list of available services on the main eBiz webpage. We encourage you to make use of all that apply, even if you have not used eBiz in the past. Plans under 25 MB can be emailed. For large plans over 25 MB, entities should work with the reviewer/division to upload via LiquidFiles. Directions for submitting docs via LiquidFiles is available on YouTube. Ohio EPA to Hold Second Meeting to Discuss Buckeye Brine Injection Wells
Ohio EPA will hold a second public meeting to discuss draft permits-to-operate (originally submitted August 31, 2018) for two Class I non-hazardous waste injection wells at the Buckeye Brine facility in Coshocton. If approved, the permits would allow the facility to convert two existing Class II wells to Class I status.

Public Meeting to Discuss Rumpke Landfill’s Proposed Expansion
Ohio EPA will hold a public information session and hearing at 6 p.m. on April 2, 2019, to discuss a proposed expansion of Rumpke Waste & Recycling’s Hughes Road Landfill that, if approved, would bring the landfill’s footprint to 939 acres. The information session will be at the Colerain Township Community Center, 4300 Springdale Road, Cincinnati.

Ohio EPA Issues Water Quality Certification for TJX
Ohio EPA has issued a water quality certification to TJX Companies, Inc., for the Home Goods Distribution Center project, a 1.2 million square foot building, parking lots, storm water detention pond and access driveways. The project is located at 3640 Ellsworth Bailey Rd., Lordstown.

Cuyahoga River Water Quality Continues to Improve; U.S. EPA Agrees to Remove “Restrictions on Fish Consumption” Impairment Designation
Confirming research showing continued improvements to local water quality, U.S. EPA has agreed with Ohio EPA’s recommendation that restrictions on fish consumption in the Cuyahoga River (from Gorge Dam to Lake Erie) can be eased. Any remaining advisories for that segment of stream are now consistent with the state’s general recommendations (updated yearly).
