After March 23, our district offices and Central Office will be temporarily closed and will have increasingly limited ability to receive deliveries, plans, etc. All entities are encouraged to submit plans, permit applications, etc., electronically where there are existing avenues to do so, such as the eBusiness Center (eBiz). Please refer to the list of available services on the main eBiz webpage. We encourage you to make use of all that apply, even if you have not used eBiz in the past. Plans under 25 MB can be emailed. For large plans over 25 MB, entities should work with the reviewer/division to upload via LiquidFiles. Directions for submitting docs via LiquidFiles is available on YouTube. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your understanding. If you wish to send hard copies of documents to any of Ohio EPA’s district offices, the best method to ensure we receive these documents is to send them via U.S. Mail. Since all offices are closed, deliveries outside of U.S. Mail (FedEx, UPS) will likely be returned because the offices are closed and deliveries cannot be made.

Ohio EPA is offering the free, two-part, one-day training sessions to help would-be applicants decide which grants work for their organizations and how to write a winning grant proposal.

Ohio EPA Awards Diesel Emission Reduction Grants
The Ohio Diesel Emissions Reduction Grant (DERG) Program has awarded eight grants totaling more than $8 million for replacing 26 aging diesel transit buses with newer, cleaner diesel technology or alternative fuel technology. Nine of the new buses will be electric, eight will be powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and nine powered by new cleaner diesel technology.

Ohio EPA Announces $15 Million in First Round ‘VW Settlement Grants’ to Improve Air Quality
Ohio EPA has selected 21 VW Mitigation Grant recipients for projects geared toward reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel vehicles and equipment. NOx emissions are significant contributors to ground-level ozone pollution. This first round of funding from Ohio’s portion of the national Volkswagen settlement directs $15 million toward replacing diesel engines in the state’s counties that presently do not meet federal air quality standards for ozone.

Ohio EPA Schedules Webinars, Information Session for Volkswagen Settlement Grants
Ohio EPA is inviting prospective Volkswagen Settlement grant applicants to participate in webinars and a public information session on how to apply for grants to replace or repower aging diesel fleet vehicles, including school, transit and shuttle buses, medium and heavy-duty trucks, switcher locomotives, tug boats, ferries, and cargo handling equipment in airports, ports and intermodal facilities.
