Training Opportunities

  1. Updated Bioretention Design Standards: The Short Course - Changes to the Rainwater and Land Development Manual. Jan. 29, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST, Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy, 4055 Highlander Parkway, Richfield, OH. Presented by the Northeast Ohio Storm Water Training Council in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Ohio EPA and Summit SWCD. About the workshop: In October 2013, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources officially revised the construction specifications for bioretention areas in the Rainwater and Land Development manual. Ohio EPA utilizes this manual to review the design of bioretention areas and determine compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program for stormwater associated with construction activities. This short course focuses on the changes made to bioretention design and is intended to educate Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) designers, SWPPP reviewers, MS4 program managers and project engineers on the new criteria. This is a half-day workshop. An expanded program on bioretention design, construction and long-term maintenance will be provided later in 2014.
