Commercial and Industrial Recycling Surveys

Information obtained through this survey will be used to track progress toward local and state recycling goals, assess recycling infrastructure and determine the recycling needs of businesses such as yours.

Ohio’s solid waste management district (SWMDs), in collaboration with the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association, and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA), invite you to participate in a statewide recycling survey. The purpose of the survey is to collect data on the amounts and the types of materials that Ohio businesses recycled in 2015.

To access the survey forms for your SWMD and to learn about your SWMD, locate your county on one of the tabs below. Please read the cover letter for more instruction about completing the survey. If you experience difficulties using the webpage, please contact Ernest Stall at (614) 728-5356.

Depending on the type of business you have, you will complete either a commercial or an industrial survey. A commercial business sells products or provides a service. Examples include grocery stores, department stores, restaurants, and other retail establishments. An industrial business manufactures a product. Examples include steel, automobiles, food products, and textiles.

You will send your completed survey directly to your SWMD. The SWMD will combine the data from your business with data reported by other businesses. The combined data will be used to calculate recycling rates for the SWMD. The data collected by all SWMDs will be aggregated and used to calculate recycling rates for the state.
