Supported by loans from Ohio EPA’s Division of Environmental and Financial Assistance, Akron is tackling the challenging, decades-long route that was mapped in its Combined Sewer Overflow Long-Term Control Plan and a 2009 federal Consent Decree.

Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grant Program

Ohio EPA’s Partnership Contributes to Successful Grand Opening of the Scioto River Greenways Project

Ohio EPA provided $300,000 in federal Clean Water Act, Section 319 grant funds toward the removal and $5 million in Water Resource Restoration Sponsor Program (WRRSP) money for reshaping the river channel, restoring the banks, and planting trees, shrubs and other riparian vegetation.

DEFA Helps Protect the Glen Helen Nature Preserve

Combining forces, DEFA and Warren County contributed more than $1.3 million toward the total $3 million protection project cost.
