Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the National Park Service have announced a final environmental assessment and finding of No Significant Impact for the Cuyahoga River Brecksville Dam removal project. This announcement is a final environmental signoff for a project that will restore a free-flowing Cuyahoga River between Brecksville and Cleveland.
February 27, 2018 ARCO Site Cleanup Complete
The pile of more than 300,000 cubic yards of illegally disposed construction and demolition debris waste at the ARCO Recycling site has been removed following an eight-month cleanup. The more than $8.8 million cleanup was paid for by Ohio EPA and done in cooperation with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, the city of East Cleveland, the Cleveland Division of Air Quality and the Cuyahoga County Executive’s Office.

November 24, 2017 Rover Pipeline Spills Contaminants in Ohio Stream
Ohio EPA has cited Rover Pipeline, LLC for spilling contaminants into the Black Fork of the Mohican River, Ashland County. The Notice of Violation is Rover’s fifth since the company received permission from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in September to resume drilling construction at certain locations in Ohio. These latest violations are summarized in a letter Ohio EPA sent to Rover this week, requesting that the company pause horizontal drilling activities, review its contingency plan and ensure readiness to respond to future inadvertent returns.

November 17, 2017 State of Ohio Releases Latest Version of Plan to Reduce Nutrients in Lake Erie Basin
The Ohio Lake Erie Commission and the State of Ohio have completed the Ohio Domestic Action Plan (DAP) 1.0 to reduce phosphorus entering Lake Erie under the binational Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement with a goal of reducing phosphorus loading to Lake Erie by 40 percent by 2025. This version of the Ohio DAP is being provided to U.S. EPA for review and comment and to serve as Ohio’s part of the US Domestic Action Plan, the final version of which is due in Feb. 2018.
